The website for Alteril says something very interesting:
“Alteril is a premium grade sleep aid that may help you get the sleep you need without the unwanted side effects you may not want.”
Not exactly a confident statement in Alteril’s ability to put you to sleep is it? It may help you get the sleep you need? This is a direct quote from the Alteril website. Most product descriptions are much more enthusiastic and positive; this one is kind of passive and lukewarm.
Alteril Ingredients:
Alteril contains two active ingredients: L-Tryptophan and Melatonin.
You have probably heard of tryptophan before. It is the famous ingredient in turkey that makes you sleepy after Thanksgiving dinner. It is actually found in most sources of protein (animal and plant alike). When you ingest tryptophan it is converted into serotonin. Serotonin is a neurotransmitter that is vital several biological functions. Eventually, serotonin is converted into melatonin (at night time usually) to bring on sleepiness.
Melatonin is released from the pineal gland in the brain and it is commonly known as the sleep hormone.
These ingredients are natural and effective at promoting sleepiness.
Alteril Customer Reviews:
“Skip this product. I tried it 10 times with different doses 1/2 1/3 1/4. I even tried chopping up the pill and taking it in a shot of water. Never had a happy next day. I have tired tons of different products even Ambien which is the worst I have tried. The best I have found was called Sleep Fizz but they went out of business. I guess I will keep trying. This pill did knock me out but it isn’t worth the grog the next day.” –Jeff
“This is the best sleep aid I have ever used. It does not give me a crazy drugged feeling. I just start yawing and feeling tired and lazy about half hr after I take it. I sleep so soundly. No side effects. I don’t even know when it kicks in, I just know I fall into a peaceful slumber. Love it and its all natural. I have been an insomniac for years, and this is the only thing that has helped. It has Melatonin, Ltryptophan and Valerian root. ..and chamomile…good stuff! It needs a few days to get into your system and work correctly.” – Anonymous
“I was able to fall asleep with this product but unable to fall back asleep after waking up during the night. I think this product for me seems to work about the same as melatonin. Would not recommend.” – Michelle
Alteril Cost:
You can buy Alteril in stores like Wal Mart and Walgreens. A pack of 30 tablets costs about $10-15. That is a fair price.
Overall Value:
Alteril gives you some good bang for your buck. The makers of Alteril, in spite of themselves, have made a pretty good product. It is not the best of the best as far as sleeping pills go, but it’s not a terrible investment.
