“Since it is a natural (and essential) amino acid, (with very little chance of an overdose) one can take one, two, or three caplets 30 minutes before bed to induce drowsiness. It works for me. The drowsiness sensation lasts about 1-2 hours. Therefore, it helps one fall asleep, but does not help with staying asleep greater than perhaps 2 hours maximum. L-Tryptophan is physically non-addicting. Like any substance, it won’t work for everyone, since everyone’s physiology is different. L-Tyrptophan is being studied as an adjunct to antidepressant medications, as well as a treatment for seasonal affective disorder.” – James
“I fell asleep fast but still woke up a few times in the middle of the night. Plus I was kind of dizzy the next mornings. I thought it might go away after a couple of days but I had to stop using it becuz I couldn’t deal with that anymore.” – Anonymous
Does LEF Optimized TryptoPure Plus Work?
Probably. Tryptophan is a good ingredient, but it’s not the best. There are better and safer ingredients in the market (i.e. melatonin, phenibut, etc.). You should always use products with the very best ingredients.
LEF Optimized TryptoPure Plus Ingredients:
The active ingredients found in LEF Optimized TryptoPure Plus are: Niacin, Tryptophan, Lysine, Hops, Ginger root, and Rosemary. As explained on the website, “The primary tryptophan-degrading enzyme is overactivated by inflammatory cytokines. The most comprehensive way to help prevent the enzymatic degradation of tryptophan thus is to suppress the inflammatory factors by taking the proper dose of extracts from ginger, hops, and rosemary. A patent-pending formula called Optimized TryptoPure® Plus has been developed to protect tryptophan against excessive degradation in our aging bodies, thus sparing it for conversion into serotonin in the brain. Lysine, niacinamide, hops, ginger, and rosemary extracts have been shown to help the body utilize tryptophan more efficiently.”
Why is it so important that Tryptophan be converted into serotonin? Well, because serotonin is eventually converted into melatonin which controls your body’s sleep/wake cycle and the more melatonin you have in your bloodstream the sleepier you become. This leads to another question: Why not just supplement with melatonin (skip the middle man so-to-speak)? LEF Optimized TryptoPure Plus doesn’t attempt to answer this question.
Possible Side Effects with LEF Optimized TryptoPure Plus:
As stated on their website, “Serotonin syndrome is characterized by high levels of serotonin and symptoms like confusion, sweating, agitation, nausea, involuntary muscle contractions, and racing heartbeat. Do not take L-tryptophan if you experience these symptoms…”
Is LEF Optimized TryptoPure Plus Safe Worth Trying?
One bottle of LEF Optimized TryptoPure Plus Safe costs $40 ($30 if you’re a member of lef.org). It comes with a 12 month refund policy in which they will either credit your account (no money back). LEF Optimized TryptoPure Plus Safe has the power to help the majority of insomniacs fall asleep, but you can find other great products at a similar price with less risk of side effects.
