Sleepees is an all natural supplement marketed to help treat symptoms of insomnia by helping users achieve restorative sleep and assist the body in regaining it’s natural sleep cycle. Sleepees is also being marketed to those who may be looking to drop a few pounds, saying that extra sleep may reduce weight.
Sleepees was subject to a national recall in Canada in 2007 because it was found to contain the drug estazolam. Estazolam is a potent drug that is only available with a prescription and has a very real risk to users of being habit forming and causing dependency when taken over an extended period of time. Since the recall, Sleepees assures its customers that it has rectified the problem and that the supplement is now indeed all natural and safe.
How Does Sleepees Work?
Sleepees contains Quencia, which is a proprietary blend of herbs used to provide a better sleep. The herbs found in Quencia include:
- Jujue date, which may relieve sleeplessness, stress, pain, and mild anxiety, as well as being slightly sedative.
- Siberian ginseng is said to have antioxidant properties, and may increase alertness, improve memory, and regulate sleep patterns.
- Schisandra, can help treat depression, insomnia, and headaches. Hops, help treat insomnia and nervousness.
- Reishi mushroom, has been known to counteract the effects of stress and anxiety to help users sleep better.
- Red sage, calms nerves and treats sleeplessness.
- Helcidum, which is a sedative, and calms nerves.
- Mother of Pearl, helps reduce irritability and nervousness, and relieve anxiety.
Is Sleepees an Effective Sleep Aid?
There is not a lot of information anywhere about the effectiveness of Sleepees at helping to relieve insomnia and regain a natural sleep cycle. While many of the ingredients used are believed to help induce sleep, some are known to increase alertness, which seems to be a little counterproductive to what you would want in a sleep aid.
Side Effects
There appear to be no side effects associated with the new Sleepees formula.
Final Word on Sleepees
Taking Sleepees to combat the symptoms of insomnia, does not seem to be a good direction to go. There is next to no information available about the supplement. On the Sleepees website they provide information about the ingredients used, but nothing else. And when trying to purchase the product, all links are “no longer available.” This leads me to think that there may be other problems with the supplement that haven’t yet come to light, for which it was pulled from the market. It definitely gives me some negative feelings about the safety of Sleepees.
Due to the controversy that still seems to surround Sleepees, and the fact that I could not locate anywhere to buy the supplement, I would recommend looking elsewhere for treatments to relieve symptoms of insomnia. There are a lot of reputable companies that have produced truly all natural sleep aids, minus the dose of worry that I would have by taking Sleepees.
